CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, also known as “subscription farming.” It is a food system in which people pay to become members of a farm. In exchange for annual subscription fees, Fertile Grounds members receive a weekly box of fresh, locally grown produce from early June through late October. Members share the rewards and the risks of their farmers.
Once a week, CSA members come to pick up their produce, either at The Lands at Hillside Farms in Shavertown, at Dundee Gardens in Hanover Township, or at the YMCA in Downtown Wilkes-Barre. Every week, each share includes 6-10 different crops, which vary depending on what’s in season.
